Parishioners in Malawi turn out to greet the group of visiting MVPC members

The Mission Committee of Mountain View Presbyterian Church is charged with disbursing congregational monies in support of mission opportunities locally, nationally and internationally.  It also coordinates the direct participation of members of the congregation in support of those missions.

Internationally, the largest, most vibrant mission is our direct relationship with churches and schools in the sub-Saharan African country of Malawi.  In 2012, the church hosted a visiting delegation for the Presbyterian congregation in Engalaweni.  In October, several MVPC members will journey to Malawi to deliver much-needed aid, dedicate various projects, and work to advance other projects, to include schools and micro-businesses.

In addition to the Malawi missions, MVPC supports the Marion Medical Mission, Compassion International, Just Coffee (a mission to assist coffee growers in Agua Prieta, Mexico), and many other endeavors.

Nationally, MVPC works through the Presbyterian Church (USA) and non-denominational organizations to meet the requirements of those in need.  For instance, MVPC furnishes both funds and labor to the Presbyterian Disaster Assistance (PDA).  Congregation members have worked on the ground to clean up and rebuild in the aftermaths of Hurricanes Katrina & Ike, as well as the Joplin tornado.

PDA volunteers rebuild a house damaged in the Joplin tornado.  Locally, the church is very active with organizations such as Loveland Habitat for Humanity, House of Neighborly Services, Blessed Beginnings, and Community Kitchen.  Once again in these cases, MVPC provides both financial support and volunteer labor to make the programs successes.
