Where:

The base of YPM is located in Leona Vicario, Quintana Roo, Mexico, about 35 minutes SW of Cancun, and is equipped to host groups of up to 40 people. YPM provides safe and delicious meals, sleeping accommodations in hammocks or beds, and all in-country transportation.

When:

January 20-27, 2026 (Tuesday to Tuesday)

With Who:

MVPC members teaming up with People from all over Presbytery of Plains & Peaks and possibly Northminster Presbyterian Church in Peoria, IL.

Doing What:

We will be working alongside Mexican master workers to construct much-needed facilities such as schools, houses, churches, and more. All levels of experience and ability are welcome! This is hard but satisfying work in humid & warm temperatures. Temperatures at this time can hover around 82/86 °F.

YPM Cost:      ​

YPM Charges $700
Private transportation to and from the Cancun airport, safe and comfortable lodging, meals, a hand-woven hammock, YPM t-shirt, tools to use during building, building materials, and equipment on the worksite. This does not include tips for Host, Chefs, and Cleaners.

 

Other Costs You are Responsible For:

• Passport If you do not have. You need to do it immediately! Expedite!

• Airfare You will book and pay for your own ticket. Need to arrive in Cancun, Mexico by 2pm on Jan 20, 2026 and depart by late morning/early afternoon on Jan 27, 2026. You can check with other participants to see what carrier and time they are traveling.

• Transportation Please arrange your travel from your home to DIA airport and then DIA airport to your home. 

• Tips For Hosts, Cleaning Crew, & Chefs at YPM. You will want cash in small, untorn bills (i.e. $10, $5, & $1)

• Extras on You Meals on Travel Days as well as Fun Days & Dinner out; Ice Cream; Snacks; Ferry

Typical Week:

Day 1 Travel to YPM
Day 2 - 5 Work Site 9am to 2pm (break for Lunch); ½ Day on last Day for celebration
Day 5 Tour University; Tour Water Treatment Plant
Day 6 Church, Local Fun, Shopping & Dinner out
Day 7 Fun Day (Beach or Ruins, Ferry Ride, Shopping, etc)
Day 8 Travel Home
