About the event
“The Cross is laid on every Christian ...
When Christ calls a man, He bids him come and die …”
In today’s troubled world, there is a strong temptation to keep one’s religious convictions personal and private.
Dietrich Bonhoeffer faced the same temptation, but he responded by reminding us that we must live our Christian lives actively, powerfully and deliberately in the real world. Offered sanctuary in America, he chose instead to return to Germany and bear witness to Christian faith in the face of the Third Reich. At great personal risk, he defied the German authorities, condemning their treatment of the Jews and their glorification of the Reich to the exclusion of God.
In our six-class-series, we will meet Bonhoeffer, consider the world in which he lived, discover the challenge of costly grace and consider the meaning of what he taught for our lives today.
