BOB ROSS - who is he?? Well - this guy made phrases like "Happy like little trees" and “We don't make mistakes, just happy little accidents.” household names. Bob Ross has somehow become a national icon during this time of being shut at home due to COVID. He is a quirky kinda guy that did "The joy of painting" lessons via TV up until his death in 1995. Known for his BIG hair, denim shirt, and soft voice he has become a beloved icon once again. Check him out! YOU DO NOT HAVE TO BE TALENTED TO DO THIS - this purely for FUN! Being crazy and silly! So whether you have painted or not - just give it a try!
So - we will create together a little fun painting. I will deliver supplies to your doorstep during the week of Feb 15-19. Then on Sunday, Feb 21 at 4 pm we will meet up together to paint!
DRESS UP LIKE BOB! We will award a special prize for those who dress up as well as a grand prize for the best dressed BOB!
Friends are invited to join us as well as anyone in your family!- just let Christy know who is going to join in! We just need to get them supplies!
You will get to vote on 3 different paintings you want to do! Top votes determine the one we will try!
CHOPPED DINNER CHALLENGE
Sunday March 7, 2021
5pm via ZOOM
Everyones gotta eat sometime - Right? Well get ready for the Chopped Dinner Challenge!
On Sunday March 7 we will join together via ZOOM to show off our dinner creations that include our chopped items to see who is the Chopped Champion!
Have you seen the show "Chopped"? Contestants must open a basket of mystery ingredients and create one course per round, from appetizer, entre, and dessert using the ingredients in the basket along with any other items they choose! Your challenge is the same!
You will receive a bag of "Ingredients" on Saturday, March 6 at your doorstep! You have got all night to plan what you will make! You can do only 1 dish or you can do more! It is up to you! You can make an entre or maybe a dessert - BUT you MUST USE ALL THE INGREDIENTS IN THE BAG in your meal!
We will join together on ZOOM at 5 pm on Sunday, March 7 to see what everyone cooked up! Your family will be the tasting judges. (They can help you cook but then they cannot vote on the finished item! Siblings may work together or separate! Invite a friend over to help you cook!) Family members will weigh in on how it tastes AND your ZOOM audience of other students and their families will weigh in on how it looks - so presentation is a must!
A prize will be awarded for MOST CREATIVE USE OF INGREDIENTS for an Entre, Appetizer, and Dessert as well as the overall CHOPPED CHAMPION! So get your thinking caps on! And lets COOK!
A message from Christy about
WINTER Youth Activities:
Sunday Nights are usually the time to get together and play a game, discuss, and share. However, as I am sure most of you are experiencing with your students, it is hard for students to be engaged and enthusiastic about being online together since they spend much of their days being online for School.
In an effort to try to engage with them more we shortened our time to about 30-40 minutes - yet students are zoning out, turning off screens, or just disengaging altogether. In talking this over with MVPC Staff and our Christian Education committee, we have developed a plan for this winter.
MVPC Youth Group will now have a Monthly activity, discussion, learning time. We figured students may be up for 1 big night of fun, creative ideas, sharing concerns, etc. This way Youth Group on Sunday is not just another thing they feel they have to do and will be something they WANT to do and are excited about doing it. So, starting in February we will be meeting for only 1 TIME a month. We will re-evaluate this as we move forward thru the months and with COVID, etc.
JUNE 7 - AUGUST 9
9:50 - 10:40 am in Youth Room
ON HOLD FOR NOW DUE TO COVID-19
Join us on Sunday mornings. This is a time for digging into Scripture and how it applies to our lives today. Students are encouraged to ask questions and to explore what "Faith" is all about.
(Please note that we take Thompson School District Breaks off as well as Memorial Day thru Labor Day off for the Summer)
5:00 - 7:00pm Sundays in Youth Room
This is the fun stuff - about hanging out with friends and discovering Christ.
A place where you can be yourself and establish authentic relationships.
Come for fun & games, dinner, discussions, and MORE!
Special Events happen each month!
PLUS Service Opportunities, Winter Retreats, and High School Workstudy Mission Trip in the Summer! All are welcome whether Mountain View is your place of Worship or not!
