Before coming to Mountain View Presbyterian as Associate Pastor, Jim served as the Pastor of the First Presbyterian Church in Yuma, Colorado where he gained an appreciation for the power of a congregation seeking unity and reliance upon strong lay leadership. A graduate of Union Theological Seminary in Virginia, he has a personal commitment to renewed expressions of the essential tenets of the Reformed Tradition in the whole of life beginning with worship. His background includes relational youth ministry, audio and video integration in worship, dramatic script writing and men's ministry. An educational major in communications has allowed him to be a jack of all trades in multiple situations. Jim is a strong advocate for relational evangelism, Reformed church renewal, and empowerment of the laity as expressed in the reformed concept of parity in ministry. He is a mentor for the Presbytery
Comissioned Lay Pastor program and has taught several classes regarding the roles of lay ministers in the post modern era. He and his wife Sharon have two young children, Rebecca and Jacob. They enjoy camping and traveling, as well as the much valued night at home together.
